Recent disclosures have revealed that many of our Veterans are not getting the medical care and treatment they rightfully need and deserve. The head of Walter Reed Army Medical Center was fired due to the poor care and conditions in that miltary hospital. The real tragedy here is that, such poor care and despicable conditions are occurring throughout the country and affecting patients everywhere. More attention needs to be given to proper medical care in this country. Studies have documented that over 98,000 patients die each year as a result of medical mistakes. The medical care system needs to address this issue and come up with ways to prevent so many errors from causing so much harm. Hospitals need to start reporting more precisely questionable medical care incidents which occur within their facility. Doctors need to step up to the plate and start policing their own profession . Until they acknowledge the problem, patients will continue to suffer.
