US Healthcare System Still Neglects Minorities

Recently published national studies continue to show that minorities are subject to neglect and rejection in the present medical healthcare system. These studies show that regardless of the quality of their health plan, minorities are less likely to have major surgery at leading medical institutions, opting instead for less prestigious medical centers, with higher incidences of medical malpractice.

In addition, studies show that minorities fare much worse in medical HMOs than non-minorities. Minority females are less likely to survive breast cancer than non-minorities. According to these studies, minorities are more prone to illness, and have a higher rate of long term complications from these illnesses than non-minorities.
