A Charleston West Virginia doctor was ordered to court by a judge and was instructed to bring with him various documents so that plaintiffs attorneys could review the documents with regard to malpractice suits against the doctor. The particular doctor has 110 pending medical malpractice cases against him arising out of care he provided to patients at Putnam General Hospital. The owner of the hospital-Health Corporation of America is also a named defendant in the lawsuits.

The number of lawsuits filed against this one doctor raises the interesting question as to how a hospital could keep such a physician on its staff. Negligent credentialing/hiring cases against hospitals address such facilities' failures to properly hire physicians. When a hospital or other medical facility employees negligent doctors, they can also be held responsible for harm caused by the negligent doctor/employee.
