InjuryBoard Attorney Gary McCallister has recently blogged on the first reports of deaths possibly linked to the salmonella contamination of Peter Pan Peanut Butter. No deaths have been reported as of yet in Ohio. State health officials say seven Ohio cases so far are part of the national salmonella outbreak linked to peanut butter. There has been one case each reported from Cuyahoga, Franklin, Miami, Montgomery, Stark, Summit and Trumbull counties.

A Lawrence County Pennsylvania woman died on January 30, 2007 several days after eating peanut butter that her family's lawyer claims was contaminated by salmonella, according to a lawsuit filed last Wednesday. The second report relates to George Baldwin, Jr., 77, of Lake Forest, Ill., who died on Feb. 2, three days after eating a sandwich spread with a recalled brand of peanut butter.

ConAgra has issued a recall of the peanut butter and is working with the FDA.
